 Mariam Sowe was born in the Gambia in 1985. At the age of 11, her family re-located to the United States. At 18 years old, Mariam had an encounter with one of Africa's biggest stars, Youssou Ndour. When she expressed her interest in singing, Youssou advised her to never let the love fade and to keep working on it. Youssou's advice proved to be beneficial.
 When Mariam moved to Los Angeles to finish her college studies, she met Hakim Abdulsamad (one of West Africa's top music producers). Impressed by each others talent, they teamed up and started recording a new album. Mariam effortlessly blends english and her native language wollof to create a sweet sound that can be appreciated world wide. Mariam is now poised to be one of SeneGambia's top shining stars. She is representing SeneGambia in a high light, making Africans proud world wide! | |
